For 43 years, The Acting Company has been the only permanent, professionally touring repertory theater company dedicated to the development of the young American theater artist, and the cultivation of a discerning national audience. In conjunction with our touring efforts, we are now inviting select theater training programs to be part of our National Consortium Residency Program; a major new initiative geared toward propelling theater students into their chosen field, advancing the substance and standing of regional graduate and undergraduate theater programs, and enhancing the wider community’s engagement with theater as a means of generating dialogue about important ideas and issues.
We seek to achieve our ends by establishing regional consortia of university, college, high school, and community-based organizations to partner with our Tony Award-winning theater company. Within the framework of each regional consortium The Acting Company will collaborate with faculty and students to design and carry out residency experiences that utilize each season's repertory.
Liberal Arts Engagement: Generate rigorous and meaningful conversation across several academic disciplines geared toward exploring the themes presented in the Company’s repertory
Professional and Artistic Development: Engage young, pre-professional theater practitioners in interacting with established theater professionals through master classes, internships, mentoring opportunities and other project-based activities
