One of Shakespeare's most famous tragedies, Othello remains terrifyingly relevant in its exploration of jealousy, obsession, and evil.  This streamlined production featured five veteran alumni of The Acting Company and was scaled to bring the power of Shakespeare's text directly to students.

Othello toured to middle and high schools across the five boroughs of New York City in January and February of 2019, reaching over 2,500 students in under-resourced schools, many of whom had never before seen a live theater production. The tour performance experience was deepened by post-show conversations with the cast and The Acting Company's signature education programs Learning Through Theater and Shakespeare for Teachers. Thanks in part to the support of the National Endowment for the Arts' Shakespeare in American Communities program, the Rona Jaffe Foundation, the Axe-Houghton Foundation, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, the New York State Council for the Arts, and numerous generous individuals, schools in need received our performances and education programs at no cost.
