Oscar Wilde’s AN IDEAL HUSBAND April 18
The third reading of this season’s Acting Company John McDonald Salon Reading Series will take place Monday, April 18 at 7pm: An Ideal Husband by Oscar Wilde, to be directed by Tony nominee Moritz von Stuelpnagel (Hand to God) and will feature Michael Urie (Buyer and Cellar) and Monique Barbee (The Mysteries of Laura), Tony Award winner Gabriel Ebert (Matilda The Musical), Patricia Hodges (Born Yesterday), Joshua Johnston (The Acting Company's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead), Dakin Matthews (The Audience), Amelia Pedlow ('Tis Pity She's A Whore), Flor de Liz Perez (Pericles Prince of Tyre), Angela Pierce (The Norman Conquests), Liv Rooth (The Acting Company's Desire) and David Turner (Good Person of Szechwan).
Wilde's wonderfully witty story of romance, insider trading, and scandal explores morality and the higher standard that seems to fall upon those individuals in the public eye.
Reading will take place at The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater at the West Side YMCA, 10 West 64th St. between Central Park West and Broadway, NYC and is currently SOLD OUT.
May 16: The House That Will Not Stand by Marcus Gardley, who has secured his place as one of the most promising contemporary playwrights. Set in 1836 New Orleans, a time when free black creole women entered into common-law marriages with rich white men in a system of placage. When mourning Lazare coincides with the eve of a ball her daughters wish to attend, the house that Beartrice Albans built—on a foundation of wealth, secrets and dearly bought freedom—threatens to collapse. This reading will be held at The Lynn Redgrave Theater at The Culture Project at 45 Bleecker Street, NYC. $35 Tickets are still available for this reading, and include a post-show reception with the cast. Click HERE to buy tickets online or call The Acting Company (Monday through Friday) 212-258-3111.
