November 9th was the date and Capitale was the place to be as The Acting Company saluted Acting Company Co-Founder and Producer MARGOT HARLEY who is stepping down after 43 years of leadership and honored PAUL and TOM FONTANA with Joan Warburg Humanitarian Awards.
Margot Harley was saluted by Acting Company Alumni Actors and noted Broadway director Jack O’Brien for her extraordinary leadership of The Acting Company for the past 43 years. Click HERE to watch VIDEO.
Tom Fontana, an Acting Company board member, is a multi- Emmy, Peabody and Humanitas Award winner for his TV writing and producing. Tom founded Stockings With Care, which anonymously provides thousands of Christmas gifts and clothing to children living with their families in homeless shelters. Tom has been Vice President of the Writers Guild of America East is President of the WGAE Foundation and serves on the boards of The Acting Company, Williamstown Theatre Festival, DEAL and The NY City Police Museum. Paul Fontana is The Acting Company's Pro-Bono Education Consultant. He trains teaching artists, runs Shakespeare for Teachers program and writes Teachers Guides. Paul also volunteers for Theater Development Fund’s Open Door program, co-founded by Wendy Wasserstein, which brings underprivileged students to the theater and post-performance discussions with major theater professionals. Paul is a teacher and Vice-Principal at All Hallows High School in the South Bronx where he initiated and runs an after-school theater program that performs classic plays for the school, parents and community.
John Doman – one of TV’s most familiar faces – presented the Joan M. Warburg Humanitarian Award to Tom Fontana. Mr. Doman appeared for three Seasons on Tom’s Borgia as well as on Oz and is a regular on Gotham as he was on HBO’s The Wire and dozens of other television series and films. Lauren Robertson, a student of Paul Fontana at All Hallows High School and member of Paul’s All Hallows Players, presented Paul with the Warburg Humanitarian Award. Attendees included Clive Davis, Rainn Wilson, Jack O'Brien, Rita Moreno, David Hyde Pierce, Michael Wilson and Acting Company Board Members Kevin Kline, Harriet Harris and Dana Ivey. Jugglers, Stilt Walkers, Gender Illusionists, Magicians, Silent and Live Auctions, Dinner, Dancing to Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks accompanied by Acting Company Alumni, Broadway’s Stephen DeRosa as host and performer rounded out the exciting evening.
Angela Pierce and Tim Saunders co-chaired and Gerry Cornez, assisted by Rebecca Leifman, Joseph Parks and Paula Raymond, produced and coordinated the event.
