    The Acting Company is currently accepting applications for the following positions:

    Development Associate

    The Acting Company, the nation’s only repertory company dedicated to the development of the American classical actor, is seeking a full-time Development Associate. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Associate plays an integral role in The Acting Company’s (TAC) fundraising activities. The Development Associate is an essential part of The Acting Company team, ensuring smooth administrative operations, positive stakeholder relationships, and timely, accurate communication, and partnering with senior staff to carry out effective program processes.

    Candidates for this front-line position must be highly comfortable with phone and email correspondence and in-person interaction with donors, artists and patrons at all levels. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, positive, and enthusiastic Acting Company advocate who thrives as part of a small, highly collaborative team. This position is ideal for a motivated early-career professional looking to build skills and knowledge in the administrative side of the theater.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Participate in the planning and implementation of special events (annual gala, opening nights, etc.)
    • Administer annual individual giving campaign mailings and the delivery of donor benefit programs.
    • Process donor acknowledgments.
    • Maintain patron database in DonorPerfect and generate lists and reports as needed; maintain physical development and marketing records.
    • Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and reports.
    • Take minutes at board, committee, and staff meetings.

    Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree or above and possess a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar position, preferably in New York City. Candidates should be adept at using the MS Office suite and ideally will have experience using donor database systems, preferably Donor Perfect. The ideal candidate will be organized and detail-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills including verbal dexterity and sensitivity on the telephone and strong writing skills. A knowledge of and passion for theatre is preferred, especially classical theatre. Occasional evening and weekend work is required for special events, productions, and other activities.

    Administrative Associate

Reporting to the Executive and Artistic Directors, the Administrative Associate is an essential part of The Acting Company (TAC) team, ensuring smooth administrative operations, positive stakeholder relationships, and timely and accurate communication, and partnering with senior staff to carry out effective program processes.

    Candidates for this front-line position must be highly comfortable with phone and email correspondence and in-person interaction with donors, artists and patrons at all levels. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, positive, and enthusiastic Acting Company advocate who thrives as part of a small, highly collaborative team. This position is ideal for a motivated early-career professional looking to build skills and knowledge in the administrative side of the theater.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Assist with email blasts, social media, subscriber and ticket buyer correspondence, website maintenance and other marketing tasks
    • Coordinate scheduling, attendance and logistics for board and committee meetings.
    • Secure and manage volunteers for readings, mailings, and special events.
    • Participate in the planning and implementation of special events (annual gala, opening nights, etc.)
    • Administer the organization’s general communications, including monitoring email and answering the telephone. 
    • Maintain orderly organization of all office spaces
    • Day-to-day office duties such as managing the office schedule, maintenance of contact sheets, phone systems and office appliances, office supply management, and processing of incoming and outgoing mail   
    • Assist Artistic and Executive Directors as needed.

    Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree, preferably live in the New York City area, and be available for occasional evening and weekend work. Prior experience in a similar position is preferred. Candidates should be adept at using the MS Office suite and be willing to learn how to work with general office appliances. Basic web maintenance, graphic and social media skills are a plus. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills including verbal dexterity and sensitivity on the telephone and strong writing skills. A knowledge of and passion for theatre is preferred, especially classical theatre.
